AROC, the Romanian Association of Concert Promoters and Cultural Event Organisers, wants to add clarifications that should complete the information present in the public space in the last hours

Since the declared state of emergency, AROC has been in contact with Government representatives in an attempt to define how the entire event industry in Romania can continue its activity and thus to overcome the current situation. We have proposed our own possible scenarios and measures and we are committed to fully respect any action to be taken, putting public safety first.

European states have already made firm decisions regarding major events. The organizers of the big events, the related industries, the Romanian and international artists are also waiting for Romania's position. More importantly, the public in Romania and the one abroad is waiting for a decision from the politicians.

At the moment, the worst thing that can happen to a young industry, but with a great social and cultural impact such as festivals and big events in general, is to try to exist in a state of uncertainty. The measures taken at national level so far, for any industry affected by the Covid-19 crisis, refer to a time frame of 30 days, which does not help, but rather blocks any decision that each organizer can take for his event. Lack of landmarks can lead to major damage, loss of public trust in the organizers and authorities who manage their existence. On the other hand, the clarifications and predictability that such important political decisions can bring at this time can help events to exist in the years to come. AROC would like the decision taken by the authorities to be balanced, not to favor or disadvantage any events, regions of the country or the public that cannot travel. In Europe in general, major summer events have been postponed to the summer of 2021. Romania could make a discordant note or align with European decisions, but the most important thing is that these decisions have to come as soon as possible.
