Our colleague, Codruta Vulcu - AROC vice-president, received today the "Cultural Merit" medal from the President of Romania, Mr. Klaus Iohannis, during the decoration ceremony at the Cotroceni Palace, on the occasion of the National Culture Day.

"I am very honored to receive this special distinction, unique in the life of a professional. It is a recognition that belongs to all those who believed in me and who taught me throughout my life and career, a distinction that belongs to every colleague and collaborator who has been with me during the 17 years of activity in the artistic sector. The launch and development of international projects such as the ARTmania festival or Blaj aLive, the launch of a Music Export Office, as well as the successful organization, in 2019, of the ceremonies officiated by His Holiness - Pope Francis on the Liberty Field - Blaj, are the result of a team.

The music and festival industry has taken important steps in recent years to bring Romania to the same table with well-known music festivals in Europe (and beyond). Today, however, globally,  the change and insecurity seem to be the constants that generate the most controversial discussions in the public space, and the culture is strongly shaken by the crisis generated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

And yet, in this unprecedented context, culture needs to play a vital social role: that of recalibration, tolerance and humanity. That is why I believe that support for saving and reopening the cultural sector is a must. A reopening based on discussions carried out by all actors involved, in the spirit of the values that the cultural area promotes: open and constructive dialogue, balance, harmony, community ", said Codruta Vulcu - AROC vice-president and Director of ARTmania Festival , East European Music Conference & Showcase Festival, Romanian Music Export, Blaj aLive Festival.

The "Cultural Merit" Medal is a decoration awarded to Romanian and foreign citizens, which rewards the merits, talent and services of culture, art, science and the promotion of social works of local or regional impact. It belongs to the category of civil decoration by fields of activity.
